How to change your browser's default search engine

Internet browsers

Each Internet browser uses a default search engine. When you type a query into the address bar, a specific search service (e.g., Google, Bing, Yahoo!, etc.) sends you the results. If you don't intendance for the search engine that comes with your preferred browser, you may change it. To go on, select the appropriate Net browser from the list below and follow the instructions.

  1. Open the Chrome browser.
  2. Select Customize and control Google Chrome Customize and control Google Chrome button in the upper-correct corner of the screen.
  3. In the drop-downwardly menu, select Settings.

Edit search engine settings

Clicking the Chrome menu icon. icon next to a non-default entry allows you to change the default search engine, edit its title and keyword, or remove it from the listing.

Add a search engine

If yous don't like any of the search engines currently listed, you may add a new one by clicking the Add button in Chrome. button and filling out a form.

Note

Whatever newly-added search engine is listed under the Other search engines section.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open the Firefox browser.
  2. Click the Firefox Menu icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. In the drop-down card, select Settings.
  4. Select Search from the card on the left side of the screen.

  1. In the master window, locate the Default Search Engine section, and click the downwards arrow in the box below it.

  1. Open the Microsoft Border browser.
  2. Click the Settings and more icon Microsoft Edge More menu in the upper-correct corner of the browser window.
  3. In the drop-down menu, select Settings.

Clicking the Edge menu icon icon side by side to a non-default entry allows you lot to change the default search engine, edit its title and keyword, or remove information technology from the list.

  2. In the upper-right corner, select the More Edge More button button.
  3. In the driblet-down menu, select Settings.

  2. Expect for the Search in the address bar with option. Below that text, click the Alter search engine button.
  3. Choose your new default search engine, then select Fix as default.

  3. In the drop-down menu, select Settings.

Change default search engine

Y'all can change the default search engine by clicking the Chrome menu icon. icon next to any of the non-default entries, and and so selecting Make default.

  1. Open up the Safari browser.
  2. Select Safari selector from the menu bar in the top-left corner of the screen.
  3. In the drop-down menu, select Preferences.
